Project Management

Project management

Bluengineering can have the responsibility of the planning, execution, and closing of any project. We has extensive experience providing direct project management, planning or technical support for your new build, refit, or proposal project.

  • A project manager is the person accountable for accomplishing the stated project objectives. Key project management responsibilities include creating clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and managing the triple constraint for projects, which is cost, time, and scope. Bluengineering can provide this direct line of responsibility for your project. Services may include direct on-site, in shipyard support, or may be scaled to suit the project and the customer. A project manager is a client representative who determines and implements the exact needs of the client, based on knowledge of the firm they are representing. The ability to adapt to the various internal procedures of the contracting party, and to form close links with the nominated representatives, is essential in ensuring that the key issues of cost, time, quality and above all, client satisfaction, can be realized. Bluengineering works together with your existing organization to form an integral support system.

  • The Bluengineering method of project planning generally consists of:
  • ·        Determining how to plan (e.g. by level of detail or rolling wave)
  • ·        Developing the scope statement
  • ·        Selecting the planning team
  • ·        Identifying deliverables and creating the ship work breakdown structure
  • ·        Identifying the activities needed to complete those deliverables and networking the activities in their logical sequence
  • ·        Estimating the resource requirements for the activities
  • ·        Estimating time and cost for activities
  • ·        Developing the schedule
  • ·        Developing the budget
  • ·        Risk planning
  • ·        Gaining formal approval to begin work.
  •
  • Additional processes include regular, formal and complete communication with the owner and all other stakeholders. We generate photographic reports of progress to not only compliment technical schedules, but to provide real-time, easily and rapidly read reports depicting real project progress. Bluengineering believes that when you hire a project manager, you are hiring a means of providing a clear view of your project. This view should not be obscured by complicated tables, graphs, plots and charts. It should be based on a simple and easily understood description of the project with regard to where it is, where it should be, what’s been done, and what still needs to be done. These regular status reports should be easy and quick to read – we know you are busy. They should be complete and thorough, with no hidden surprises. Bluengineering is dedicated to this key communication element. Bluengineering also believes the project manager should be pro-active on behalf of the owner to head off problems and to keep the project moving in accordance with the goals. We’ll work with all of the stakeholders to aggressively drive projects toward completion.
  • In general, most refit and new build projects follow a rational planning approach that integrates the design, naval architecture and marine engineering, as well as the schedule and budget planning, into one unified approach. This approach generally follows a simple linear program, which can be seen to the right.
  • Let Bluengineering manage your next project.
